John Ayliff - Author of The Ice Gate. John is a writer in the computer games industry and lives in Cambridge, England.

K.C. Ball - Author of And Bay the Moon. K.C. is a retired newspaper reporter and media relations coordinator, now living in Seattle. She began writing fiction this past January. Since then, her fiction has been published, or accepted for publication, at Boston Literary Magazine, Every Day Fiction, Fear & Trembling, Murky Depths, Morpheus Tales, Resident Aliens, Static Movement and A Thousand Faces. Zach Bartlett - Author of Cravat of the Damned. Zach is yet another author from the frigid land of New England, though he promises not to spend nearly as much time writing about cold snaps and covered bridges as certain others have. Gregory Bastianelli – Author of Green Thumb. Gregory is a New Hampshire native and graduated from the University of New Hampshire where he studied writing under authors Thomas Williams and Mark Smith. He’s worked in publishing for more than two decades, most recently as an editor at a daily New Hampshire newspaper. His stories have appeared in the magazines, “Black Ink Horror,” “Beyond Centauri” and “Sinister Tales,” as well as the magazine anthologies “Cover of Darkness” and “Encounters,” and the online magazine “Down in the Cellar”.

David Siegel Bernstein – Author of The Groundskeeper. David lives within the shadow of Philadelphia in Elkins Park, PA. To support his writing addiction, and excessively extravagant lifestyle, he consults as a forensic statistician. He has been published in numerous print, podcast, and online magazines. Stephanie Alexis Bonvissuto - Author of The Love Song of Michelle and Stefan Fricke. Stephanie is a forty-something New York based author who lives with her partner and three cats. Her stories and poems have been spotted in On Our Backs Magazine, Oysters and Chocolate, Girlphoria, Chaotic Dreams, The Scream, Factory, Outlaw Biker, Sapphic Voices, Afterburnsf, Aiofe’s Kiss, Not One of Us, The Lusty Library, and very-koi. net. Niall Boyce - Author of Demonology. Niall lives and works in London. He has previously published fiction with the popular literary events/websites ‘Liars’ League’ and ‘Tales of the DeCongested‘. Patrick Boyton - Author of Childish Things. Patrick is a writer and filmmaker with an MFA from New York University. He lives in Frederick, MD with his wife Melissa, in-laws Rich and Rose, and their pug, Lilly. Patrick is the author of “Snallygaster: the Lost Legend of Frederick County.”

Brianne - Author of Pops. Brianne’s favorite authors are Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

Lawrence Buentello - Author of The Children. Lawrence lives in San Antonio, Texas, and is the author of several published short stories and poems. He is also the co-author of the short story collection Binary Tales and the novel Reproduction Rights. You can read more about Lawrence here.

Scott Emerson Bull - Author of Desire. Scott writes his tales from the beautiful state of Maryland which also serves as the setting for many of his stories. He has appeared in various anthologies and magazines, including recent appearances in Doorways Magazine and Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show.

Justin E.A. Busch - Author of Trust. Justin is an internationally performed and published composer and author. Previous stories have appeared in ‘Challenging Destiny‘ and ‘Hooligan Follies,’ and his essays have appeared in ‘CineAction‘ and ‘Wagner.’ His music may be heard on TraumSpiel Music CD 1001; his first book, ‘The Utopian Vision of H.G. Wells’, will be published by McFarland Books in late 2009.

Colin L. Campbell - Author of Looking Glass Planet. Colin lives in Kansas City, Missouri. He has been published in Atomjack and has an upcoming story in Big Pulp.

Autumn Canter - Author of Sweet October. Autumn lives in upstate New York with her comic guru husband, baby son, four belligerent felines and hundreds of books. Kevin Catalano - Author of The Nightmares of Finnegan Graves. Kevin lives in New Jersey with his wife and teaches writing at Rutgers-Newark University. His fiction has appeared inMAG, Prick of the Spindle, and Cause and Effect Magazine.

Roger Caverly - Author of Battle In the Graveyard.

Mike Chambers - Author of The Goblin’s Deck of Cards. Mike is a software engineer working in the Life Sciences industry. When he’s not busy obfuscating lines of code, he enjoy spending time with his wife and three children.

Greg Chapman - Author of Precious Blood. When he’s not working as a public relations officer and being father to two daughters in his native Australia, Greg is having dark thoughts about bizarre and frightening things happening to imaginary characters – occasionally he puts those thoughts into words. His speculative fiction isn’t all vampires and ghosts – it also verges on the psychological and the thin grey line between good and evil. Greg has grand plans to share all his dark tales with the world. While he is a new author, he has eight years experience as a newspaper reporter.

Marc Colten - Author of Triangles, Summer of Love, Able was I... and Dust Softly Gathering. Marc was born in 1950 in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. His was influenced by the Cold War and the divisiveness of the Viet-Nam war. His literary influences were the novels of George Orwell and John LeCarre and the short stories of Saki and John Collier.

Patricia Correll – Author of Fur. Patricia lives in Kentucky with her husband and their cat-demon. She has been previously published in A Thousand Faces, Reflection’s Edge, and Les Bonnes Fees. She enjoys zombie movies and ice cream. You can read more about her here.

Nathan Crowder - Author of None Left Behind. Nathan grew up in the unforgiving amber of the Seventies in small-town south-western Colorado, the eldest son of librarian and a daycare provider. He was drawn to books at an early age, and spent many hours looking at the pictures in oversized library books about horror cinema, thus beginning his macabre fascination with things that go bump in the night. His first competed novel was written while working at a self-storage facility in 2005, and he hasn’t looked back since, turning out a few dozen short stories, eight novels, and two screenplays in that time.

Nara Dakota - Author of Before the Moonlight Ends. Nara published her story, “First Strap This Board to Your Feet, Then Change Your Mind,” in Mesa State College’s Literary Review, May 2006. It won both the “Student’s Choice Nonfiction” and “1st Place” awards. She also also published, “Momma,” in Mesa State College’s Literary Review, April 2005. It won the “Students’ Choice Fiction” award. She now attends veterinary school at the University of Sydney

Daniel W. Davis - Author of The Call. Daniel is a graduate student at Eastern Illinois University. To him, “horror” isn’t just a word–it’s how you should feel after you’re done reading the story. The name of a genre means little; all that matters is how you feel when you’re done reading.

Chris Deal - Author of Anhedonia. Chris has published several poems and short stories around the internet, most recently Glasgow Simile in Darkest Before the Dawn and four poems in Bicycle Review. He also regularly writes about literature at Creative Loafing. He has several stories and poems coming out in the months to come, and will be publishing a collection of micro-stories through Brown Paper Publishing in early 2010.

J.E. Deegan - Author of Do Not Read. J.E., a teacher/writer by trade, has a published collection of short stories, LIMBOLAND; a published collection of children’s stories, When I Was A Little Guy; and a published volume of poetry, The Moments In Between. His writing interest is in spooky things: of things that make us know why we are afraid of the deep woods in the dark of night.

Steven J Dines - Author of The Manny Prior Halloween Show. British writer Steven J Dines’ short fiction has appeared in over sixty online and print publications. His story, Unzipped, was selected as a Notable Story in storySouth’s Million Writers Award and recently received an Honorable Mention in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror 2008. Michael P. Dunn - Author of Symmetry and All My Yesterdays, Remembered. Michael was born in New York, and currently lives in Florida. He discovered science fiction at an early age, growing up on Lost In Space, Captain Scarlet and The Thunderbirds. He’s always had an active imagination, and started writing the day after he saw Star Wars. He divides his time between working full time and writing.

Ali Eickholt - Author of Needle and Thread. Ali Eickholt is a Colorado native who has is completing her MA in English and teaching at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

Marilyn Evans - Author of Position Wanted. Marilyn became an auditor for the pharmaceutical industry after working in medical research for 20 years. She served as editor of the Pagan magazine, The Rune, for 7 years. She lives with her husband, cats and horses in Kansas City.

Salvatore T. Falco - Author of Bringing up Bobby. Salvatore attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in English. He now lives in Saint Petersburg, where he works as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. He is an active member of the Florida Writers Association.

Richard H. Fay - Author of The Haunted Castle. Richard currently resides in upstate New York with his wife, daughter, two cats, and a rather confused shepherd-chow mix. Formerly a laboratory technician turned home educator, Richard now spends his days juggling various writing and art projects. History, myth, legend, and folklore all serve as inspiration for his creative endeavours. Many of the fruits of his labour have appeared in various e-zines, print magazines, and anthologies. Adrian Firth - Author of Final Refrain. Adrian lives in Auckland, New Zealand with his wife, cats, and a writing addiction. He has worked as a teacher, horticulturalist, bartender, web developer, and computer systems trainer. But not all at the same time.

Michael R. Fosburg - Author of LaRue and the Tinkers. He has published poetry under the pseudonym Roddy O’Donnell in The Puck Review, the Journal of Regional Criticism, and 86 Magazine. His rantings and ravings can be found here.

Dana Richard Freeman – Author of Thud, A Moment in Time and Alien Nation. A retired science teacher of 39 years, Dana has used his knowledge of the sciences to fashion stories “…with a twist.” The endings take one where they might not have expected to go.

Aaron French – Author of Charlie’s Resurrection. Aaron is a college student who’s been writing speculative fiction for the last six years. His work has appeared in the inaugural issue of Abandoned Towers Magazine (as well as various stories on their website), Wanderings Magazine, the one-year anniversary issue of the sorely missed Willows Magazine, issue #5 of Macabre Cadaver Magazine, and issue #9 of Werewolf Magazine – as well an upcoming issue of Sonar4. He resides in Tucson, Arizona, where he plays keyboard in a local alt/rock band called Think Big, and lives with his unequivocal girlfriend, Britt.

Michael W. Garza – Author of A Helpful Hand. Michael lives and works in Southern California. He spends the best part of his days with his wife and two children.

Valerie Geary - Author of None Will Remain. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Vanguard University of Southern California, Valerie moved north to Portland, Oregon where she continued writing with the slow-moving tenacity of the undead. When she’s not writing (or throwing the tennis ball for her dog), she reads any and all books she can get her hands on and watching apocalyptic movies with the curtains closed.

Brady Golden - Author of Sweat. Brady received his MFA from the University of San Francisco. Recently, his stories have appeared in Prick of the Spindle and at ducts.org. He currently lives in Oakland, California.

Gordon Grainger - Author of The Efficiency Expert and Hero, Third Class. Gordon Grainger is an award-winning copywriter and former science columnist who writes stories that sneak up on you to reveal the familiar from a whole new perspective.

Joseph Grant - Author of Reclamation. Joseph is originally from New York City and his short stories have been published in 101 literary reviews and e-zines, such as Byline, New Authors Journal, Nite-Writer’s International Literary Arts Journal, Howling Moon Press, Hack Writers, New Online Review, Literary Tonic, six sentences, NexGenPulp, three UK literary reviews, Bottom of the World and Cupboard Gloom and two most recently in Darkest Before Dawn and a story in the upcoming anthology of horror, Northern Haunts, (available soon in Barnes & Noble, Target and on Amazon) and upcoming stories in Grim Graffiti, Heroin Love Songs and Bottom of the World #2. He has won “Story of the Month” at Bartleby-Snopes Literary Review and has earned a guaranteed spot in the 1st PRINT issue of the magazine due out in January of 2009. He has written for The New York Bar Guide (as a reviewer) and in various newspaper articles that have appeared in The Pasadena Star, Whittier News and the San Gabriel Tribune. He has published a work of verse, Indigo, with Alpha Beat Press and has completed his first novel. Joseph currently resides in Los Angeles. Iain Grant - Author of The Mumblies. Iain lives in Birmingham, England, where he is a member of the Birmingham Writers’ Group. His science fiction and horror stories have appeared in numerous small press collections over the last ten years.

Justine Graykin - Author of Chimera. Justine lives with 1 husband, 2 kids, 3 dogs, 7 cats and a flock of chickens on 50 acres in New Hampshire. She assists in herding the books at the local library, performs in community theater, and never misses and chance to read her various works of speculative fiction aloud. She is a member of Broad Universe and the NH Writer’s Project, and has had several pieces of short fiction published, as well as one novel, Awake Chimera.

A. Douglas Hackle - Author of The Stick Figure. A. Douglas (adh789@yahoo.com) received a Bachelor of Arts in English from John Carroll University in Ohio. In addition to his publishing debut here in The Absent Willow Review, his short story, “Don’t Cry, Yoshiko,” will appear in Issue 2 of Horror in Wordsin December 2009. He currently resides, works and writes in Cleveland, Ohio.

Rick Hipps - Author of Squire William’s New Charge. With the initials ‘REH,’ Rick has always considered pulp writer Robert E. Howard as his literary mentor and guiding influence. In October 2008, Rick was asked to be a guest panelist (‘Self-Promotion for New Writers’) at Silicon in San Jose, CA. His love of fantasy novels, classic movies, and family (wife Verna McKinnon, and three cats, Molly, Bridget and Duncan) fill those few hours Rick can spare from his writing; including development of a nine-book fantasy adventure series.

S.J.Hirons - Author of A Trophy. S.J.Hirons (sjhirons@yahoo.co.uk) was born in Greenwich, England in 1973. Educated at Rugby and Cambridge, he currently resides in Leamington Spa. He has studied creative writing at the National Academy of Writing and Birmingham City University. Michelle Howarth - Author of Neighborhood Watch. Michelle’s writing has featured in Dark Fire ezine and SNM magazine. She also works as an editor for Shock Totem magazine.

Beth Hudson - Author of A Midwinter’s Kiss. Beth is a serious writer as well as a mother of three terrific sons. She has several published short stories, in anthologies and small press magazines, including a chapbook, “Following Seas” from Sam’s Dot Publishing, “The Seal King” in the Fine Tooth Press anthology “Strange Stories of Sand and Sea“, and “House Call” in the April 2009 edition of Kaleidotrope magazine. Gary Inbinder - Author of Nemo and Kafka Balance the Books. Gary is an attorney who recently left the practice of law to write full-time. Gary holds a J.D. from the University of La Verne (California) where he received an American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Writing, and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Illinois, Chicago. His fiction, articles and essays have appeared in Bewildering Stories, Morpheus Tales,The Copperfield Review, Humanitas, Praesidium, Quodlibet and Touchstone Magazine. He is a member of the Bewildering Stories Editorial Review Board.

Jasmine Giacomo – Author of The Healer of Kyras. Jasmine lives in Washington State with her husband and two small children, and dreams of owning enough cats someday to be called “that daft cat lady” by the neighbors.

Michael David Gibb - Author of Edge. Michael writes because he has to, picks AC/DC’s “The Jack” and “Highway to Hell” on his electric guitar because he needs to, and plays like a fool with his two young sons because he wants to. Gibb grew up in South Carolina where the old family home had a rocking chair that rocked on its own. He frequented dilapidated colonial graveyards and even frolicked in a park where pirates were once hanged. He now lives in Ottawa, Canada, in the guise of a scary stay-at-home dad.

Jonathan Janz - Author of Throwing Monsters. Jonathan is the pseudonym of a Midwestern horror/suspense writer whose works have been published by Creative Guy Publishing, From the Asylum, Amarillo Bay, and AlienSkin.

Curt Jeffreys - Author of Gut Feeling and Exit Left. Curt has been writing fiction since 1996. His stories have been on the web at Dark Fire Fiction, Mysterical-e, Galaxy ezine, Shadow Keep, Rocket Stories! and Millenium Science Fiction. He lives in Arvada, Colorado with his beautiful wife of thirty years

Pamela J. Jessen - Author of Martian Dawn, Sleeping Dogs, Tidal Forces, Witch, Wet Spell, After Midnight, and The Cannibal. Pamela is from Colorado and has been writing poetry and short fiction for quite a few years. Her poetry has appeared most recently in Absent Willow Review and Snakeskin Poetry Webzine. Short fiction has appeared in the anthology Women Who Run with the Werewolves, Cemetery Dance, The Horror Show and Twilight Zone Magazine.

Janette Johnson - Author of Trip of a Lifetime. Jannette’s passion for writing began in her teenage years. Her stories vary from science fiction to dark fantasy-depending on her mood and the creative muse that whispers in her ear. Nathaniel Johnson – Author of Early Checkout. Nathaniel lives in Rockport, Massachusetts with his muse and two basset hounds. Ryan T. Johnson - Author of The Bridgemaker. Ryan is a writer, musician, and actor in Los Angeles, CA. He has published journalistic works in LA Weekly, but spends most of his time tickling the synthesized ivories for his bands Uberband, Rnfield, and Batlord. You can see his site here.

Waite Jorin - Author of Madeline. Waite Jorin is a writer of Science and Literary Fiction who lives in Southwest Florida. He is a staff writer for a daily newspaper in his home town, Cape Coral.

Margaret Karmazin – Author of Sound Effects. Margaret’s credits include over one hundred stories published in literary and national magazines, including Rosebud, North Atlantic Review, Potomac Review, Confrontation, Virginia Adversaria, Mobius, Chiron Review and Aim Magazine. John A. Karr - Author of His Shadowed Self. October, 2001 saw the publication of John A. Karr’s novel, Dark Resurrection (small press). Samhain Publishing, LLC has released new electronic and print versions (October 2007). Asylett Press is scheduled to publish his medical thriller, Hippocrates Shattered. Short stories have been published on webzines, including the current issue of Allegory . Raleigh, North Carolina, is home. It’s also where he day-jobs as an IT Analyst and does his best to balance family life with his need to write. Other works are in the marketing queue, and the first volume of the RHONE series (heroic fantasy) is complete. Currently he is working on a mystery with paranormal leanings.

Michael C. Keith – Author of In Time and Space. Michael is the author of a critically acclaimed memoir (The Next Better Place, 2003) published by Algonquin Books as well as two dozen monographs and several articles on electronic media subjects. He is a professor at Boston College.

Ron Keith - Author of The Empty Room. Ron lives in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. He works as a consultant, primarily writing about energy issues and the environment, but also aspires to write fiction, particularly horror.

Robert E. Keller - Author of Sand Painter. Robert E. Keller has sold a large number of short stories to various online and print magazines, including Murky Depths, Flashing Swords, Necrotic Tissue, Afterburn SF, Sorcerous Signals, Bards and Sages Quarterly, and many more. Alec Kowalczyk – Author of Transfer of Guilt. Alec is a native of South Troy, New York. Civil engineer by day with an interest in the mechanics of poetry.

Eric J. Krause - Author of Planetary Fear. Eric pens stories from Orange County, California, just minutes away from Disneyland. When he is not writing, he is working as a substitute teacher with the goal of becoming a full-time elementary school teacher. He’s been published in a number of Internet magazines. Mark Lance - Author of The Darkened Smoke Room. Mark has an MA in Archaeology and lives in Providence, RI. He has been writing horror since he was a teenager.

Robert Laughlin – Author of The Heroes, Hic Nemo Jacet & The Preacher Says. Robert lives in Chico, California. He is the creator of the Micro Award, an annual competition for previously published flash fiction. Two of his short stories are MWA Notable Stories, and his first novel, Vow of Silence, is available from Trytium.

Justin R. Lawfer – Author of Between the Toes. Justin R. currently resides in Windsor, WI, outside of the state capital of Madison. James Lecky - Author of All That Grows. James is a writer based in Derry, N. Ireland. Leroy Leonard - Author of Beauty makes Us Selfish. Leroy is a writer and actor from Denver, Colorado. His fiction has appeared in Expose, Rocky Mountain Sports, and Fate magazines. He is a founding member of Chameleon Stage Denver. His plays have been seen in numerous Colorado theatres.

Ilan Lerman – Author of Whisper. Ilan is a writer living in Edinburgh, Scotland. By day he sells expensive shiny things to old Edinburgh ladies. Carl Rauscher – Author of In the Shadow of the Oak. When Carl was young, his mother said he could do anything and he’s tried hard to accomplish just that. He drove a nuclear submarine, hunted squirrel with a slingshot, got kicked out of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, drove a commercial truck, sailed across Long Island Sound in a rented boat, ordered food in a foreign McDonalds, and appeared in a major film (or at least his elbow did). Despite his colorful history, he lives a fairly normal life in Maryland with his wife and two children, yet still finds time to read books, write stories, and make others laugh.

Timothy P. Remp & Peggy McFarland - Authors of Claims. Timothy P. Remp, a member of the New England Horror Writers association, has had several short stories published and his micro fiction appears on the Six Sentence website and in their anthology, 6S Volume 2.
